SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME NOTES

End results

Arkansas tackle Tony Ugoh won some tussles, but Florida defensive end Jarvis Moss also gave him fits at times, getting off blocks to stop Darren McFadden and Felix Jones and one time busting around the end to hammer quarterback Casey Dick’s arm and dislodge the ball. It was ruled an incomplete pass instead of a fumble because Dick’s arm was moving forward. Nice timeout

For a while in the third quarter, it looked as if Florida thought it was the fourth quarter. The Gators blew all three second-half timeouts on one mid-third-quarter drive and looked boneheaded doing it. Instead, the last one used before the Gators punted came off as a stroke of genius when Reggie Fish tried to field the ball near the goal line, muffed it and Wondy Pierre-Louis recovered for a touchdown. Composure check

Florida quarterback Chris Leak didn’t panic after he threw two interceptions that resulted in 14 points for Arkansas to open the third quarter. “Give Arkansas credit. They capitalized on our mistakes,” Leak said. “Through those things, I just have to have a short memory because there’s going to be adversity and momentum shifts. I just looked to my teammates and guys kept encouraging me.”
