FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas senior center Darian Townes’ status with the team hasn’t been affected by his arrest on a misdemeanor charge for failure to appear in court. Arkansas Coach John Pelphrey said Monday that “as of today” he expects Townes to be available to play in the Razorbacks’ next game at LSU on Saturday night. “I don’t perceive there to be a problem, but obviously, everything is day-to-day,” Pelphrey said. Townes was arrested by Fayetteville police Sunday night and charged with misdemeanor failure to appear. After posting a bond of $ 530, he was released from the Washington County Detention Center, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Web site.
“I am familiar with it,” Pelphrey said of Townes’ arrest. “From what I understand, it was a minor traffic violation, and it happened a while ago. He’s working to get that resolved.”
Townes has played in all 18 games for the Razorbacks this season and is averaging 11. 3 points and 5. 2 rebounds in 22. 4 minutes.
Townes is scheduled to appear in Fayetteville District Court on Feb. 25, two days before Arkansas plays at Alabama.
