UP NEXT Western Illinois vs. Arkansas, Monday, 6: 30 p.m. at Baum Stadium, Fayetteville WHO’S HOT Arkansas senior catcher Jeff Nutt had three hits Saturday to break out of an 0-for-22 slump. Shortstop Tim Smalling collected two hits in each of the last two games of the series after going through a 1-for-25 stretch. WHO’S NOT Stephen Richards, one of Arkansas’ most dependable relievers throughout the season, allowed 6 runs, 4 earned and 4 walks in two appearances in the series. SHORT HOPS Ron Polk received a new car and a box of cigars from Mississippi State officials during the pregame ceremony honoring the Bulldogs’ outgoing coach, who’s stepping down after 29 seasons at the school. Polk’s overall record stands 1, 373-700-2 in 35 seasons as a Division I head coach.... Polk, who was coaching third as the game ended, autographed his last Mississippi State lineup card and presented it to Arkansas third baseman Logan Forsythe, who chatted with Polk throughout the series. He didn’t want to single out one of his own players and decided to give it to a Razorback. “I wrote down in the dugout ‘Logan, Best Wishes. Ron Polk’. When I grabbed Logan I said ‘This is for you.’ And when he said thank you I could tell he really meant it,” said Polk, who recruited Forsythe. “What’s he going to do with it ? You don’t frame a lineup card.”... Razorbacks catcher Ryan Cisterna, who was hit by a pitch in his right wrist and left Friday’s game, will have it X-rayed today, but Coach Dave Van Horn believes Cisterna’s wrist is broken. Cisterna suffered almost the same injury during fall practice when he was also hit by a pitch.... The Razorbacks scored three runs, two earned, off Mississippi State reliever Aaron Weatherford Saturday. Weatherford, who took the loss, had allowed just one earned run 30 2 / 3 innings all season.
