UA awaiting word on 2 signees’ eligibility Published: Friday, August 08, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas Coach John Pelphrey said he’s confident all of the Razorbacks’ freshman signees will be academically eligible for the start of classes Aug. 25, but he is still awaiting official word from the NCAA Clearinghouse regarding guard Courtney Fortson and forward Jason Henry. “We’re still working with the clearinghouse and eligibility center,” Pelphrey said Thursday. “We certainly don’t anticipate any problems there.” Pelphrey said he’s “very optimistic” Fortson and Henry, both potential starters, will be certified by the clearinghouse. “We’ll be surprised if they’re not,” he said. “I feel good about them.” Pelphrey said he doesn’t anticipate any returning Razorbacks being academically ineligible. “We’re finishing up summer school, and all indications are we had a great summer academically,” he said. Pelphrey said he hopes Arkansas is able to release its finalized basketball schedule soon and that the possibility remains of the Razorbacks holding a four-team tournament in Bud Walton Arena, which would allow them to play three exempt games.
“We’re still working towards that,” Pelphrey said. “We’re moving closer every single day.” Yesterday's Most Popular 1. LIKE IT IS : Arkansas made right choice in hiring Petrino 2.
