Arkansas 28, Louisiana-Monroe 27 Published: Sunday, September 07, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL 1 st Quarter ARKANSAS 0, LOUISIANA-MONROE 0 Arkansas dominated in total yardage (101-9 ), first downs (6-1 ) and time of possession (10: 50-4: 10 ), but the scoreboard didn't reflect it. A 53-yard drive went for naught as sophomore place-kicker Alex Tejada missed a 45-yard field goal wide left. Another missed field goal by Tejada, from 25 yards, left the Hogs scoreless after a 71-yard drive that stalled at the Louisiana-Monroe 8. Junior running back Michael Smith ran four times for 57 yards on the drive. Freshman wide receiver Joe Adams had 3 catches for 31 yards for the Hogs. The Razorbacks' defense limited the Warhawks to one first down and 15 yards on its first possession. 2 nd Quarter LOUISIANA-MONROE 10, ARKANSAS 6 The special teams meltdown continued for the Hogs. But first, Arkansas finally finished off a drive, a 55-yarder as the quarter opened. Michael Smith followed a lead block by fullback John Durmon, then stretched the ball over the goal line for a 13-yard touchdown. Alex Tejada's night got worse when he pulled the extra-point try. Then - after an inexplicable delay of game - he kicked out of bounds left to give Louisiana-Monroe possession at its 45. The Warhawks took the lead on Kinsmon Lancaster's 1-yard slant pass to Anthony McCall and a successful extra point. The Warhawks blocked Jeremy Davis' punt and cashed in with a field goal to lead 10-6 at the half. 3 rd Quarter LOUISIANA-MONROE 24, ARKANSAS 14 Memories of last week's opener for Arkansas, as Louisiana-Monroe drove for a touchdown with the first possession of the half. Kinsmon Lancaster passed to Anthony McCall for a 33-yard touchdown past Isaac Madison for the third-down score and a 17-6 lead. After a fourthand-2 failed for Arkansas, and the Warhawks drove 53 yards for another touchdown. Lancaster hit McCall again for 46 yards for the drive's biggest play. A 33-yard pass from Casey Dick to Joe Adams set up a quick Hogs score, Dick's third-down 8-yard pass to D. J. Williams, who also caught the two-point conversion to make it 24-14. 4 th Quarter ARKANSAS 28, LOUISIANA-MONROE 27 Louisiana-Monroe finished off a drive on Jeremy Gener's 40-yard field goal to move ahead 27-14 with 12: 56 remaining. But the rest of the quarter belonged to the cardiac Hogs. On the next snap, Casey Dick hit D. J. Williams on an intermediate crossing route and the tight end sprinted 76 yards, setting up Michael Smith's 4-yard score on the next play. Dropped passes doomed Arkansas' next possession, but Dick hit Chris Gragg for 25 yards on fourth-and-1 with time running down. Dick then passed 8 yards to Williams for the gamewinner. Gener missed wide right on a 44-yard field-goal attempt in the final seconds.
