Arkansas’ Washington nets SEC weekly award

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas forward Michael Washington has been named SEC player of the week after having career highs of 30 points and 14 rebounds in 41 minutes in the Razorbacks’ 91-87 victory over Southeastern Louisiana. Washington, a 6-9 junior from McGehee, scored seven consecutive points in overtime to give the Razorbacks the lead for good. Tennessee guard Scotty Hopson, who had 17 points in 19 minutes in the Vols’ 114-75 victory over Chattanooga, is the SEC freshman of the week.
