Strong safety Elton Ford is back on the field after recovering from a neck injury that kept him in a brace for three months.

Even during his darkest days, when Elton Ford was wearing a neck brace for more than three months, he could smile when he thought about playing football again.

Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino thought his quarterbacks were sloppy, but his defense showed signs of improvement from last season in Day 1 of Arkansas' fall camp on Aug. 6.

It is kids like this that make me the most proud of our hogs. Many people would just sit down and feel sorry for himself. Whom ever raised this young man apparently did a fine job.

I keep reading story after story about how the off season training program has made specimens out of our team. I think a little reward and recognition is in order for Veltcamp by the Razorback Nation if this ends up translating to results on the field.

I wish all parents would raise their kids to have the motivation and willingness to keep moving forward and never give up!

Don't ever look back, see what can be done to overcome an obstacle. This is one of the guys that has definitely made these HOGS stronger as a team.

Ford is true role model for this sport and all Razorbacks!

GO HOGS!!!

Along the lines of the comment by foreverhawg, I am glad that Ford is making it back on the field with a chance to play again. The fact that he is a phenomenal athlete with great skills and ability makes it of more interest to most fans, but it is great for him as this young man seems to be a genuinely good kid who works hard and does the right things. I played in an alumni golf tournament and asked how he was coming along, and one of the folks very close to the players made the following statement, which is one of the best compliments that can be given in my opinion:

"Elton Ford is the exact kind of player that you want playing for your favorite team. He is one of the best kids in our program."

Hopefully he has a healthy season.

Welcome back, Elton. We love you, man. You and your class will be playing BCS ball before you're done.
