Arkansas will be featured on television for every conference game as part of the 2009-10 Southeastern Conference basketball schedule released on Thursday.
All 16 of Arkansas' SEC games are scheduled for television, including three on ESPN or ESPN2 (Jan. 21 vs. Florida and Jan. 28 vs. Mississippi State), and ESPNU (Jan. 14 at MSU). Three games are on Comcast Sports Southeast (Feb. 3 at Georgia, Feb. 17 vs. South Carolina, March 3 at Tennessee), one is on Fox Sports Net (Feb. 20 at Auburn) and the other nine are on the new SEC Network.
While the dates of the non-conference portion of the Razorbacks' schedule were announced in July, television arrangements and times for non-SEC games, including games aired by Razorback Sports Properties (RSP), will be announced at a later date. The full schedule includes 22 home games.
The SEC schedule begins with a Jan. 14 trip to Mississippi State televised by ESPNU followed by home games against Alabama and Florida on Jan. 16 and Jan. 21, respectively. Following a Jan. 23 date at Kentucky, Mississippi State is in Fayetteville on Jan. 28. The home games against Florida and Mississippi State will be televised by ESPN or ESPN2. Road trips at Ole Miss and Georgia are followed by home games against Auburn on Feb. 6 and LSU on Feb. 10.
After a trip to Alabama, South Carolina is in Bud Walton Arena on Feb. 17. Road games at Auburn and LSU follow with Vanderbilt visiting Fayetteville on Feb. 27. After the March 3 game at Tennessee, Arkansas closes its home schedule against Ole Miss on March 6.
The Razorbacks play 11 games against NCAA Tournament teams (Louisville, Morgan St., East Tennessee St., Oklahoma, Stephen F. Austin, Texas, Mississippi St. [twice], LSU [twice] and Tennessee) and seven against National Invitation Tournament teams from last season (Baylor, Alabama-Birmingham, Florida, Kentucky, Auburn [twice] and South Carolina) for 18 of 31 regular-season contests against post-season clubs.
The Hogs also play 13 games against teams in the top 66 of the final RPI rankings from a year ago No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 7 Louisville, No. 29 Tennessee, No. 34 LSU (twice), No. 38 Texas, No. 44 Baylor, No. 52 Alabama-Birmingham, No. 57 Florida, No. 62 Auburn (twice) and No. 66 Mississippi State (twice).
Before conference play begins, head coach John Pelphrey will coach against his former coach, Rick Pitino, when Arkansas faces Louisville in St. Louis on Nov. 17. The school Pelphrey coached before coming to Arkansas two years ago, South Alabama, visits Bud Walton Arena on Nov. 29. The Razorbacks beat No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 7 Texas last season, and face both again this year. The Hogs travel to Oklahoma on Dec. 2 while Texas returns to Fayetteville on Jan. 5.
The Hogs open the regular season at home against Alcorn State on Nov. 13 and play in Verizon Arena in North Little Rock against Baylor on Dec. 30. Following the trip to Oklahoma, Arkansas is in Fayetteville for five straight. After the Baylor game, the Hogs close their non-conference schedule with home games against Alabama-Birmingham on Jan. 2 and Texas on Jan. 5.
With a 22-game home schedule, Arkansas fans can see more games at Bud Walton Arena for the same price as last season's 20-game home schedule. The cost of season tickets was held at the same price as last season, giving fans more basketball action for the same price. Season tickets for the 2009-10 season are now available through the Razorback Ticket Office for $500. To order tickets, call the Ticket Office at 479-575-5151 or 800-982-4647, or go to ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
