Clarke's 51 garners SEC Player of Week award
Monday, November 16, 2009
FAYETTEVILLE Arkansas sophomore guard Rotnei Clarke was named the first Southeastern Conference men’s basketball player of the week for the 2009-10 season, it was announced by the league office on Monday.
Clarke lit up the Bud Walton Arena nets for a school-record 51 points on way to a blowout of Alcorn State, 130-68. Clarke set two Arkansas, one SEC and four Bud Walton Arena records in the win. His 51 points eclipsed the 36-year-old school scoring record of Martin Terry (47 in 1973) and his 13 three-point baskets broke Al Dillard’s (12 in 1993) Arkansas and SEC record for threes in a game.
Clarke’s Walton Arena records included points by a Razorback (Al Dillard, 39, 1993), points by any player (Jodie Meeks, Kentucky, 45, 2009), field goals made (Al Dillard, 13, 1993) and three-point baskets made (Al Dillard, 12, 1993).
Clarke’s SEC player of the week is his first and the first by a Razorback since Mike Washington was named the player of the week on Jan. 5.
The Razorback are on the road for their next contest, a Tuesday night affair with No. 19 Louisville at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Rotnei is a great shooter and if left open, he can rack up the points. However, when he plays against other teams in the SEC who have quicker players than Alcorn State, he will have much more trouble scoring. I look for the Hogs to be very good in a couple of years with new recruits they will be getting. GO HOGS GO!!!
