There is a reason why the likes of Rick Pitino rain down accolades on John Pelphrey and it has a lot more to do with his character and coaching abilities than anything else.

PEL took over a program that was, quite frankly, on the brink of disaster. He obviously loves the state of Arkansas and is well versed in the tradition and everything the Razorback program has accomplished. He intends to rebuild the program and tradition the right way.

He has high expectations of his players, both on and off the court. The core of this team is beginning to understand those expectations. Given the publicity, the talented, incoming recruits must realize that they will be expected to perform in class and as human beings, as well as players. Moms and dads have to feel somewhat reassured knowing that their kids are going to be in such an environment.

Razorback coaches [and fans] have been very patient with Fortson, Welsh, Britt and company. None of these guys, individually or collectively, are bigger than the program. The suspended players need to grow up or move on.

Pel definitely deserves another full year after this season. If this year was disastrous (say 10 or less wins) then we may need to re-think this in March but otherwise I say let's stick with John until March 2011 and see where we're at.

This last loss was the latest embarrassment. This is not exceptable three years into the program. The current staff can not recruit top tier talent nor coach what they have. We will never advance in our league with this staff. Look at Kentucky. Frank is gone, buy a coach now.
