UA: McKinney's injury an ACL tear

Diamond Hogs travel to Mississippi State without outfielder

— Arkansas outfielder Jarrod McKinney did not travel with the Razorbacks to Mississippi State after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee Wednesday.

McKinney's injury was confirmed in a university news release Thursday afternoon. McKinney suffered the injury Wednesday in the fourth inning of Arkansas' 32-8 victory against Saint Louis. He landed awkwardly while going up for a ball on the warning track.

Arkansas (23-6, 6-3 SEC) begins a three-game series Friday against Mississippi State (16-13, 3-6). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and Drew Smyly (1.60 ERA) will get the start on the mound for the Razorbacks. Mississippi State will throw Caleb Reed (0-2, 4.20 ERA), it was announced Thursday.
