FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas' comeback win in the fourth quarter and overtime of the Liberty Bowl drew the largest audience of any bowl game segment on ESPN, according to Liberty Bowl officials.
Arkansas’ 20-17 win against East Carolina in the Liberty Bowl drew a 4.4 rating for ESPN, and more than 10.5 million viewers watched the fourth quarter and overtime.
The fourth-quarter and overtime numbers are huge for the Liberty Bowl and, of course, Arkansas’ publicity on the national scene. The fourth quarter and overtime of the Liberty Bowl was the highest rated segment of any bowl game on ESPN during the 2009-10 bowl season, according to Liberty Bowl officials.
“The tremendous television ratings for the 51st AutoZone Liberty Bowl are a testament to the strong national brand of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl and the compelling action on the field that Arkansas and East Carolina provided,” said Steve Ehrhart, executive director of the Liberty Bowl.
