At least at Central Arkansas, where former Arkansas Razorbacks All-American and 2002 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Corliss Williamson was named the 20th coach of the Bears on Friday.

“I feel like this is a perfect fit,” Williamson said, flashing his trademark smile, the one that belied the tough, physical play that earned him the “Big Nasty” moniker. “This is the youngest program in the Southland Conference, and I’m a young coach, but we both want to win, and we’re both going to win.”

Williamson replaces Rand Chappell, who was fired after seven years March 5 before the Bears traveled to Lake Charles, La., to close their season at McNeese State ...
