Just when I hope this program has bottomed out they find new lows. We're now so irrelevant that the only mention we get is in the "Bad Loss" column on another team's tourney resume who we somehow managed a win against.

i agree jo99. the once proud and feared arkansas program now is mentioned as "bad loss" on tourney resume. very sad and embarrassing. i stand behind pelphrey for now, i beleive every coach should have five years to get "his" program up and going. that being said i would really like to see him take control on the court as he did off the court this year. if the point gaurd wants to play out of control "street ball", BENCH HIM! a lot of times this year alot of the players seemed like they were not "in" the game. but i ask myself if i would continue to work to get open down low if i knew i more than likely wouldnt get the pass if i did get open. hope to see less of fortson and more of nobles next year. Powell's only going to get better, feed him next year, get him going, open things up for clarke outside. But it all start's with a point guard that would rather pass than take a shot. GO HOGS!

If the point guard does not learn how to play team basketball he needs to be sent home or somewhere else. Basketball is still a team sport. The pass is still more effective than the dribble.

The truth is that this team couldn't get it done without Fortson and then when they got him couldn't get it done with him for very long! With the exception of Powell who continues to grow as a player, every one of them has short commings that their opponents can exploit (including the coach who gets out coached every game). I love the Hogs, but this just isn't a top notch team in any respect. You never saw the Razorbacks lay down and play dead under Eddie or Nolan, you always thought that they had another run in them that would get them over the top!. You always knew that the coach would make adjustments and improve the situation! And most of all, the players themselves always felt they would somehow come through in the end! It starts with the coach and ends with the coach, he must get good players, teach them to play within their limits, work to stretch those limits, and always work the game to give his team the best chance to win! I'm sorry, but I'm sick of a coach that freezes on the sidelines looking like a deer caught in the headlights, I'm sick of the same players making the same mistakes game after game, and most of all I'm sick of a team that has no fire in it's belly to fight through adversity! Time for a change and another year is most likely a wasted year!

For all of the razzle-dazzle that has crept into the game over the years, basketball is still played inside-out. We need a dominant inside player to loosen things up for Clarke outside. The national championship team had Corliss Williamson dominating inside, Scotty Thurman as an outside threat, and arguably our best ever point guard Corey Beck running the show (Lee Mayberry could be in that argument, too). Corey wasn't the flashiest player, but he was hard-nosed, smart, and refused to let the team lose. I'll take that over flashy any day. You could also look back a few years earlier to the Todd Day, Lee Mayberry, Oliver Miller Final Four team to see the same recipe for success. Guards and forwards dominate the highlight reels, but great big men down low win games.

After the Hogs reached 6-3 in the West, and the nation started to notice a little, it went to ..I , I, I, Me, me, me , no team play at all ! No spark, no fire from the coach ! Watch some film of Coach K and learn how to control your players Pel !

Jeff Long says he backs Pelphrey. Pelphrey says things are "improving".

They seem to come out of the same camp. If they are talking about basketball they both are losers.

Long should have made it clear after the dismal performance last year to Pelphrey - find a way to win in 2009-2010. They haven't and in some ways were worse in the way the team flat failed in the end.

It's obvious Pelphrey does not coach - he simply watches and hopes his players will find a way to win and he misuses the talent that he does have.

Since Long won't replace Pelphrey and Pelphrey continues his losing ways, they are both complicit in our losing and crumbling basketball program.

Now, things are getting much worse. Public rumors of players desiring to leave the program which will harm our recruiting, right when we MUST improve
our recuiting or we will not catch up with the rest of the SEC. Significant recruits will not come to the UA with such a reputation. Pelphrey had problems with this last year.

Long has done nothing, but make comments like he was still behind Pelphrey - what for? The basketball program is in shambles. Then, Long and Pelphrey say that there are things happening in the program they can't tell us about? The only thing we have to know is that the present prgram is totally disorganized and non-performing.

Why doesn't Jeff Long go for instant player recruiting and reputation improvement by simply looking in his own back yard and ask Nolan Richardson to step in and make it happen and boy would he make said instant improvement. Nolan would even have the players for it what with the new recruits coming in.

Jeff Long - If you are too hard-headed to make a truly significant move to bring back a failed basketball program and if UA is not playing politics against bringing back Richardson, then maybe it's time to bring in someone to make athletic decisions whom can make decisive decisions, which everyone else can see, to make the UA basketball prgram at least competitive. if not a real winner, again.

It's ALL up to you, Jeff Long!
