FAYETTEVILLE Arkansas Coach John Pelphrey is making some staff changes.
Isaac Brown, an assistant coach the past three seasons, told Hawgs Illustrated Sunday that he is being "reassigned" to a different position, but wasn't specific.
When Brown was contacted by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on Sunday after reports surfaced that he had been fired, he declined to confirm or deny his job status.
“You’ve got to call Coach Pel,” Brown said. “I’m not doing no talking.”
Pelphrey didn’t return a call seeking comment.
Brown worked with Pelphrey as an assistant for a total of eight seasons, including five at South Alabama, and followed him to Arkansas when Pelphrey was hired as the Razorbacks’ coach in the spring of 2007.
Brown’s contract at Arkansas runs through June 30. His annual salary is listed at $132,500. He was hired May 2, 2007 as a full-time assistant coach.

Pathetic, just what is this coach responsible for that would have changed the season, a game even? He's just the scape goat! Mr Long, can you see whats unfolding? The Hog nation is looking at you now, not the basketball coach!

Pel just said a couple of days ago that he stands by his assistants. This is exactly what I say, Complete disorganized leadership by the head coach and his game plan of 40 minutes of who knows whats next.GET ready for a long season next year too!

There need to be staff changes and someone should be brought in to teach these kids some DEFENSE and to groom a BIG, assuming the Razorbacks can get one. Mike Washington did not develop well, in my opinion.
I still believe they win at least 20 games next season and make an NCAA run. Otherwise, I'm out.

I gotta go with DWP on this one. If we don't get it turn around next year, I'll be on board the all those calling for change. Lebo just got canned after 6 years at Auburn. Pel deserves at least 4 years. Hell, that's the minimum we give the President of the USA.

There were two things this season that caused me to sour a bit on the direction we are heading under Pelphrey: 1) Losing to a terrible LSU team, and 2) losing six straight games to end the season. Outside of those things, the season wasn't too bad when we had a full roster playing. We most definitely shouldn't have lost to LSU; that was pathetic. And if we had even split our last six games, it wouldn't have been a total loss. I agree that some staff changes need to be made, although I don't know enough about any of them to make an educated guess about who should go. I'm lukewarm about giving Pelphrey next year to turn things around, but I'm not totally against it. Pelphrey definitely needs to do his absolute best to try to persuade Rotnei to stay, and he'd better do some film study to see how other teams free up their shooters. Whether I like it or not, I think Pelphrey is going to be here next year, so I'm going to hope the turnaround starts then and we make the NCAA tournament.

I want it stated right here right now. Coach Pel is a nice guy. Heck Coach Heath was a nice guy, both with attitudes to WIN, The problem is we (they have lost the ability to control the players both on and off the court) Also- how much production will Marshawn lose next year without a BIG - he is only 6-7. Point guards distribute the ball, maybe average 10-15 pts,and have 8-10 assists. But how can you not have your BEST shooter NOT get 20 shots a game? This team has agood corp for a second tier team (NIT) but without recognizing needs, ways to get your shooters into the game, and getting a BIG (We will NEVER become what we as all Razorback Fans deserve!) Pel should get one more year and if it works the future is bright if we can keep the kids from Arkansas, If Not - then here is my proffesonal opinion - HIRE TUBBY SMITH - He is a proven winner at all levels and has paid his dues at Minnesota. He is a WINNER with an outstanding record of recruiting. his denise at Kentucky was trumped up and HE can change the credibility of ARKANSAS BASKETBALL IMMEDIATELY! Just one hog fan's opinionon

This program is in complete disaray.Coach Fox had less talent and had a far better season at Georgia as did Alabamas new coach. Maybe not much better record, but bigger wins. These guys can coach, you can just see it, even in there losses.Thats what I seen all season. I believe you will see some recruits recind very shortly, that will be the next headlines.

Is coach Bobby Knight still available (joking of course)? At least he coached with fire and some of these athletes need to get smacked around a little since they have no heart.

"I'm not doing no talking" Nuff said. We are horrible. Lose 7 of the last eight. LAST SIX and the first headline is Pel sees progress. Are you KIDDING ME? It's Saturday night live. If we lose RC and ANYBODY wants to give this clown another chance than shame on you. People it doesn't take 4 or 5 years to turn a program around. It takes defense and rebounding and good coaching. It's takes trust. Oh lord what's happened to my UA basketball? Wasn't a bad hire... Jersey retired in the Kentucky rafters, played under Sutton and Coach P, coached under Donovan. BUT it didn't work out. FIRE the good guy, buy the good guy dinner tell him good luck and watch the tourney and find us a COACH. Do your job AD. Currently we have ZERO hope. ZERO, Nobody is coming to play for a/this loser. I'm done. Good night.

Right on Jordan, I agree its time for a serious change at the top (headcoach). As I have said before, if you are a razorback fan and are not outraged and ashamed at the performance of these BB hogs, then there is something wrong with you.ENOUGH,ENOUGH,ENOUGH,time out for all of this wait till next year mess!!! we need change now and we need a real leader not a nice guy who's a pretender.

Don't nobody out dare got no problem wit a coach whose grammar includes “I’m not doing no talking.” BB players typically have enough trouble in the classroom without being surrounded by coaches with no classroom abilities of their own. I don't care what this guy's BB IQ is or isn't. Let him sweep the floors...preferably at another school.

Give it a rest, DONDON.
Pel has to be booted. The reasons are painfully (our pain) obvious...it seems everyone knows it but Long. I'd be happy with Tubby Smith too, but would much rather have Mike Anderson back. Either of those guys can and have coached circles around Pel. Mike faced worse adversity his first years at Missouri and turned his team into a bonafide winner in three years. I'm sitting here in Knoxville watching Bruce Pearl do the same thing after losing a couple of pro prospects early this season. GIVE PEL THE BOOT before we lose these in-state recruits!

Reassigned to another position. That means he went from assisant coach to assistant coach. I promise with all my heart that this coaching staff needs to get canned and start over. THEN WE HAVE HOPE. With Powell, Clarke and someone that can teach/coach Fortson. That's good stuff. With our current staff, NO HOPE, probably no RC. Nothing good to look forward. Pelphrey will land on his feet. How bout somebody (AD) looking out for UA BASKETBALL. I like Long but was worried about exactly this when we hired an AD with ZERO hog ties. We need him to HURT like us. We need fire. Lose 7 out of the last eight and he sees progress. Say that with a straight face. Can't even get us close to making a 64 team tournament with a weak west. Those days don't have to be over but for now they are. It's all about how high the ole bar is. With Eddie, Frank and Nolan it was high. Say what you want about them but their bar was high. Currently it's a joke. Reassigned.

We must have a guy that can coach/recruit...a proven winner. We have so many in state studs coming up in 2011 and I highly doubt we land any of them with the current staff and situation. My vote is to get rid of him...but then again we might not be able to get anything better when/if the job is available. We all saw what happened last time around.

I promise we can get better. Tubby or Anderson would sure work. What about Alford or the Butler coach?? Basketball's not rocket science. Put the ball in the hole on one end and stop the other team from putting the ball in the hole on the other end. With that said, recruit aggressive smart kids that want to win and teach/make them rebound, play defense and hit their free throws. TEACH them the real way to show off in basketball is by winning. Practice to win and NEVER lose focus on defense and rebounding and you have a good start.

First off, I like John Pelfrey. He seems like a nice guy. I like that he has demanded discipline and character. But he has failed miserably as an SEC Coach. We don't need to talk about the point when the when the team was shorthanded with suspensions. Let's just look at the last 8 games of this season with a supposedly experienced team. In those last handful of games he was outcoached by everyone, even the coaches at LSU and Georgia - - two teams we have owned since joining the SEC. Just watching Georgia, with far less talent, they pounded the ball inside and took no bad shots. They isolated Rotnei and allowed him no shots. If we had a plan, it wasn't evident. John Pelfrey is a nice guy, but he is in way over his head. What happened to the promises he made when he was hired. "We will start prsssing when we get off the bus." We never press, when we try, we give up easy baskets and quickly get out of the press. I'm sick of this. I want a change. I want Razorback basketball back, and I want it now!! We had one of the top 10 programs in the history of college basketball until three years ago - now we are not even in the top 64. Jeff Long better make changes or get ready to find another job himself. This year Pelfrey needs to go, if that doesn't happen - Jeff Long needs to go!
