Campbell confirmed his impending departure in a phone conversation with WholeHogSports.com on Wednesday. Campbell expects to leave the Razorbacks late next week to start his new job as coach at Hyde Park Baptist School in Austin, Texas.
"It's an opportunity to get closer to our family and I missed the relationships with the kids," Campbell said. "This was just an opportunity that I needed to take at this point in my career. If I was going to have another chance to coach again, it looked like it might not happen in college. This was a good opportunity for me."
Campbell joined Arkansas' staff in 2008 after the hiring of Coach Bobby Petrino. Campbell previously spent the last seven years as an assistant coach at Air Force, where he coached running backs and defensive backs during his time at the academy.
Campbell, a former player at the University of Texas, was heavily involved with the logistics of Arkansas' high school recruiting efforts. Campbell dealt with academics, compliance and travel, and the coordinating of high school camps at Arkansas. He earned $92,000 a year.
