NCAA rules Ole Miss' Masoli eligible, can play immediately
Friday, September 3, 2010
OXFORD, Miss. It turns out Mississippi quarterback Jeremiah Masoli can now play for the Rebels immediately.
The NCAA had ruled that the former Oregon quarterback had to sit out a season after enrolling at Mississippi. But Mississippi appealed that decision and announced Friday that the NCAA Division I Subcommittee for Legislative Relief had ruled that Masoli can play this season.
According to NCAA rules, football graduate student-athletes must receive a waiver in order to compete if they enroll at a university other than the one where they received their undergraduate degree.
Ole Miss plays Jacksonville State on Saturday.

This is a slap in the face of all universities. This kid was suspended from Oregon. They did not make that decision lightly. All other schools should honor that. Masoli had his chances to "do" right. The ONLY reason Ole Miss took him was because they needed a QB. Nutt saying that he was only trying to help a wayward kid is bull.

Hehe... and now, Ole Miss will probably make this guy a team captain. It is, what it is. Personally, I'm just glad Nutt is in blue and red - or whatever their colors are. Go Hogs!

Bring him on. If we can't beat Ole Miss this year with him, then we don't belong. HDN has ran out of the good recruits from the last coach and now it's time for the decline.
