Wally, don't know much about the latter, but the former is easy to understand why he departed...the defense regressed with his players...this LSU game just keeps bothering me because if the defense would have stopped half of those third and long (more than seven yards), then the Hawgs' offense really could have done more damaged...but when you make Jefferson look like a Heisman candidate, then you know your job is in trouble...the Texas A&M and Vandy games should have been Ls, but it was the Troy game that showed me that this defense wasn't going to be nowhere near the top 25...going backwards is not the way to win a title...CBP did the right thing and I know he will find a DC that will put this defense not only in the top 25 but maybe even in the top 15...offense win games...defense win titles...just look at the two teams playing for that crystal football...

Though his defenses lack a lot to be desired, Willy is a class act and I am sure that he will land on his feet.

Bobby Allen and Steve Caldwell both have considerable DC experience. Allen devised a scheme that absolutely smoked Major Applewhite, Chris Sims and the Horns in the 2000 Cotton Bowl.

Regardless, it is abundantly clear that Bobby Petrino realizes what is needed for the next step or level. I am sure his decision will be the right one.

Willy never did sound real confident to me in his interviews. Confidence or lack of rubs off on those kids I guarantee you. He always sounded to me like he wasn't sure what to expect with the next game with the defense. And maybe he didn't but I would think a leader at that level needs to be pretty tough minded and VERY confident to your own team that you are going to smash the mouths of the other team. But no doubt a class guy and I hope him all the luck in the world.

Robinson is 65 now and deserves something with a lot less pressure than DC.
