Zach Hocker kicked field goals of 36 and 50 yards during the third quarter. He later added a 42-yard game-winner.

Arkansas went three-and-out to open the game for the fifth consecutive time, impeded by personal foul and substitution penalties. Vanderbilt needed one third-down conversion, Jordan Rodgers’ 21-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Matthews on third-and-8, to score. The Hogs converted a fourth and-1 en route to Brandon Mitchell’s 4-yard keeper for a touchdown.

Vanderbilt converted on fourth-and inches from its 28 and overcame a sack to be on the move at the quarter’s end.

2nd Quarter VANDERBILT 21, ARKANSAS 14

A third-and-5 conversion, when Arkansas Jerry Franklin missed a tackle for loss, set up Jordan Rodgers’ 19-yard scoring run.

Vanderbilt missed two interception chances and Arkansas punted. A Tim Fugger sack of Tyler Wilson ended a drive. Fullback Fitz Lassing ran 25 yards with a fourth-and-1 fake punt and Rodgers found Jordan Matthews for 39 yards to set up Rodgers’ 11-yard touchdown run. The Hogs converted a fourth-and-10 on Wilson’s 30-yard completion to Jarius Wright, then they connected on an 11-yard touchdown pass with five seconds left in the half.

3rd Quarter VANDERBILT 28, ARKANSAS 20

Safety Eric Bennett intercepted Zac Stacy’s halfback pass on the second snap of the second half and the Hogs drove for a 36-yard Zach Hocker field goal. A sack stopped Arkansas’ next series, then Marquel Wade was ejected for a flagrant foul on punt coverage. Dennis Johnson fumbled at the Vandy 24 to end a promising drive. Ross Rasner had an interception fall out of his hands, Vandy converted third-and-11, then scored when Zac Stacy broke away for a 62-yard run. The Hogs pulled within 28-20 on Hocker’s 50-yard field goal after a 58-yard drive.

4th Quarter ARKANSAS 31, VANDERBILT 28

Vanderbilt drove inside the Arkansas 5 after a 44-yard throwback pass, but Zac Stacy lost the ball without being hit, Arkansas linebacker Jerry Franklin nabbed it and ran 96 yards for a touchdown. Tyler Wilson found Jarius Wright for a tying two-point conversion. Vanderbilt’s Chris Boyd bobbled a reception into the hands of Jerico Nelson, but Vanderbllt caught a break when Nelson lost control of the ball at the 1 and Vandy recovered in the end zone. Ronnie Wingo’s 21-yard draw set up Zach Hocker’s 42-yard field goal. Vandy drove to the Arkansas 10 on its last possession, but Carey Spear missed a 27-yard field goal wide right with eight seconds left.
