Sunday recruiting tidbits

Arkansas assistant coach T.J. Cleveland has been recruiting Chris Chiozza, a 5-11, 160-pound point guard from Memphis White Station.

One of the top prospects on the West coast plans to make an official visit to Arkansas.

Ath. Jalen Ortiz, 5-9, 172, 4.43 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Peoria, (Ariz.) Centennial is committed to UCLA but has a set a date for an official visit to Arkansas Jan. 11.

He said he the relationship he's formed with offensive line coach Chris Klenakis and the SEC is why he wants to visit. He has officially visited UCLA and Utah but said the trip to Fayetteville will be his last.

Ortiz rushed 142 times for 1,187 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junor. He had 128 carries for 1,401 yards, 12 TDs and 32 receptions for 501 yards and 5 TDs as a senior.

LB Ivan McLennan, 6-3, 220, 4.5 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of El Camino College said he plans to make an official visit but wants to wait until a coach is named until setting a date. He's committed to Washington St. LB coach Taver Johnson is recruiting him.

Combo-guard Davelle Roby of Memphis White Station said he's up to about eight offers, Arkansas, Memphis, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Alabama, Auburn and UAB but claims no favorites. He said his school plays similar to the Hogs' style of play. He said he noticed Razorback coach Mike Anderson and asst. coach Melvin Watkins at his game during the Battle of the Border. He has a 3.5 GPA.

PG Chris Chiozza of Memphis White Station said he likes how Arkansas uses their point guards which he said he much like his school's way of using his position. Style of play is also a plus. Claims offers from Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, UMass and others. He said Arkansas, Tennessee, Kansas and Kansas State are showing interest.

He said he didn't notice Anderson and Watkins until White Station switched baskets.
