Sunday recruiting tidbits
Bret Bielema was hired to fill Arkansas' head coaching vacancy on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012.
As tweeted earlier, Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema called Greenwood ath. Drew Morgan, an Arkansas commitment, this afternoon and told him if the Hogs had not offered him he would have after looking at his video. He said he could see Morgan playing on either side of the ball along with special teams.
Morgan was very impressed and is looking forward to playing for Bielema. He'll make his official visit Jan. 18 or Jan. 25. As reported on Saturday, asst. coach Bobby Allen will visit his school on Monday.
Also tweeted earlier, former Arkansas director of high school relations Jason Shumaker has joined Paul Petrino's staff at Idaho as the running back coach. Tom Murphy of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported in Sunday's newspaper that multiple sources have indicated that Allen has been offered Shumaker's old position.
Hog commitment-ath. Khari Harding said he missed the call from Bielema while at work today.
Bielema and asst. coach Bobby Allen left OL Johnathan McClure's grandmother's house about 5 today. Like so many other recruits, McClure said Bielema was very easy to talk to and asked about him as a person and his family. He can't wait to sign his NLI on Dec. 19 and enroll in Jan. to play for Bielema.
Junior college LB Antonio Longino of Hutchinson C.C. said Bielema and Allen will be doing an in-home visit soon. He officially visited Arkansas for the Rutgers game.
Longino said Bielema and Allen will be making an in-home visit next Sunday.
Arkansas commitment-LB Myke Tavarres of College of the Siskiyous said his official visit to Boise St. this weekend went really well. Plans to make his final decision in about two weeks.
2014 DL Josh Frazier of Springdale Har-Ber said he has thought about committing to Arkansas since the hiring of Bret Bielema as the Hog coach but wants to see how things work out on the season. He likes Bielema' defensive background and how he develops players. He hoped to visit on Saturday but couldn't make it. He hopes to visit soon.
Alabama Coach Nick Saban will be visiting North Little Rock RB Altee Tenpenny Monday afternoon. Not sure if that's a home or school visit. Arkansas asst. coach Bobby Allen will visit him on Tuesday. No word if Bielema will be with Allen.
DE Tevin Beanum, an Arkansas commitment said Allen will visit his school on Monday or Tuesday.
When asked what Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema is like, a Wisconsin commitment said the following -Very down to earth guy.. He always has reggae music on in his office.. He's a very cool guy. Arkansas will love him. Flip flop wearing, reggae music kinda guy.
