Monday recruiting tidbits

RB Jamel James, a Notre Dame commitment talked to Arkansas offensive line coach Chris Klenakis and is very interested in Arkansas after the hiring of Bret Bielema, according to his brother Quincy.

James, 5-11, 218, 4.38 seconds in the 40 yard dash, Katy, (Texas) Cinco Ranch committed to the Hogs during the summer of 2011 but reopened his recruiting after the firing of Bobby Petrino as Arkansas' head coach.

UCLA commitment and OT Kenny Lacy, 6-5, 272, 5.1 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Phoenix, (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe said he will make an official visit to Arkansas if Klenakis is retained.

LB Martrell Spaight, 6-0 1/2, 220, 4.5 of Coffeyville C.C. hasn't heard from Arkansas but would be interested. He has offers from Kansas St., Arkansas State, Rutgers, Minnesota and Indiana.

As of Saturday, WR Ryan Timmons, 5-11, 180, 4.34 of Frankfort, Ky. has not heard from Arkansas but is willing to listen. He took an official visit to the Hogs' game against Rutgers.

UCLA commitment and linebacker/defensive end Deon Hollins Jr., 6-2, 222, 4.59 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Missouri City, (Texas) Marshall will be accompanied by his father when he makes his official visit to Arkansas Jan. 11-13. He's being recruited by Klenakis.

Senior highlights of FS-RB McKenzie Jones, 5-11, 188, 4.55 of Riverview click here. He's committed to Harding. He recorded 105 rushes for 987 yards and 15 TDs along with 71 tackles, 3 forced fumbles and 3 interceptions. For his career, he had 259 tackles and 13 interceptions.

Norte Dame commitment and RB Jamel James, 5-11, 218, 4.38 seconds in the 40 yard dash, Katy, (Texas) Cinco Ranch said he communicated with Hog offensive line coach Chris Klenakis by private messages on Twitter today. He's very interested in making an official visit to Fayetteville because of Coach Bret Bielema's success at Wisconsin and the way he uses the running backs.

He plans to make an official visit to Arizona State this weekend. He made an official visit to Notre Dame when the Irish played Michigan. He liked how Klenakis stayed in touch with him on Facebook and Twitter.

Alabama Coach Nick Saban left North Little Rock high school at about 3:25 today after visiting with Altee Tenpenny. He stayed for about an hour and a half.

By NCAA rules, head coaches are only allowed one off campus visit per prospect.

Arkansas asst. coach Bobby Allen will visit tomorrow.

6:07 update

Alabama asst. coach Mike Groh visited Pulaski Academy today to check on TE Hunter Henry. He and Nick Saban will be back to do an in-home visit in the near future.

Trying to confirmed, but I believe Saban is doing an in-home visit with Tenpenny tonight.

Arkansas asst. coach Bobby Allen is also expected to visit Pulaski Academy on Tuesday to check on Henry.

Bielema called North Little Rock RB Altee Tenpenny on Dec. 5 but Tenpenny missed the call because he was working but did call and talk to Bielema the next day.

10:05 update

Hog commitment and DE Tevin Beanum said asst. coach Bobby Allen has rescheduled his school visit for earlier this week to Friday.

Oregon will visit the school of Arkansas 2014 commitment-QB Rafe Peavey on Tuesday. He remains committed to the Hogs.

2014 LB Greg Miclisse of Palm Bay, Fla. said he called asst. coach Tim Horton tonight. He plans to visit Arkansas in the spring or summer.
