— Arkansas right-handed pitcher Colby Suggs was voted third-team preseason all-American on Wednesday by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

The junior went 7-1 last season as a relief pitcher, recording a team-best 1.38 earned run average in 30 appearances. Earlier this week, he was voted one of four team captains for the Razorbacks in the upcoming season.

Suggs is one of several top pitchers Arkansas returns from a team that reached the College World Series last season and recorded the second-lowest ERA in school history. He was ranked the No. 16 collegiate draft prospect earlier this month by Baseball America, alongside right-handed pitchers Ryne Stanek (No. 3) and Barrett Astin (66).

The Razorbacks begin preseason practices next month and open the season Feb. 15 with the first of a three-game series against Western Illinois.
