Saturday recruiting tidbits

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/JASON IVESTER 08-17-09 UA football practice on the practice field assistant coach Bobby Allen

Arkansas RB commitment Kaleb Blanchard of Denham Springs, La. said he talked asst. coach Bobby Allen on Friday and was told to be patient and that Coach Bret Bielema will call him. He said he's good with that.

Hog commitment and LB Myke Tavarres of College of the Siskiyous said his family really liked Bielema during the in-home visit with them in Oregon Thursday night. He said they all had positive things to say about him. Earlier in the day, Bielema visited Tavarres at his school.

Allen visited with Forrest City DE Tevin Beanum, an Arkansas commitment at his school on Friday. The visit went very well and positive. Beanum was considering taking a visit to Ole Miss but that's no longer the case.

As reported by twitter last night, Arkansas commitment and TE Deondre Skinner of Patterson, La. plans to call Bielema this weekend. Bielema has tried to call Skinner but he's had phone problems and missed his call.

Arkansas has not contacted Contra Costa College Coach Alonzo Carter about OL Desmond Harrison. Harrison was a target of the Hogs at one time. Even if Arkansas did show interest and he had interest in them, Harrison would have to make an unofficial visit because he's used up all five of his official visits.

11:45 update

Tennessee commitment and OL Brett Kendrick of Knoxville has been offered by Arkansas. He's being recruited by Razorback OL coach Sam Pittman, who recruited him at Tennessee. He said he'll probably decide in a few days if he'll visit Arkansas.
