Saturday recruiting tidbits

Arkansas 2012 signee and linebacker Vin Ascolese said he's optimistic an appeal by Arkansas and his family to the NCAA will allow him to enroll in January. He attended Hudson County School of Technology in North Bergen, New Jersey that didn't offer athletics and played football at North Bergen high school.

NCAA didn't recognize the classes at Hudson County School of Technology even though the school is certified by the state of New Jersey. He said New Jersey U.S. senator Robert Menendez contacted the NCAA on his behalf and things got rolling after that. Ascolese said Coach Bret Bielema is aware of the appeal and he plans to call Bielema this week.

DL Josh Frazier of Springdale Har-Ber said he called Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema this evening was told his offer still stands. Bielema told him he wanted him to visit the campus in Jan. Very positive conversation.

Frazier has offers from Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn and Arkansas State.
