Monday recruiting tidbits

Arkansas has hired George McDonald to coach receivers. He spent the last two seasons with the Miami Hurricanes after a stint with the NFL's Cleveland Browns.

TE Brandon Vandenburg, 6-6, 260, 4.7 of College of the Desert in California said he has set Jan. 25 as a firm date for an official visit to Arkansas. He said previously he would probably visit on that date but now it's been set.

Ath. Marquion Lane, 6-3, 190, 4.5 of Deland, Fla. said he has talked to receiver coach George McDonald and will take an official visit to Arkansas. He plans to take all five of his visits and has trips to West Virginia and Mich. St. set. He said he's up to 22 offers.

Offensive lineman Brett Kendrick, 6-6, 295, 5.2 of Christian Academy of Knoxville said he's been talking to Arkansas and he "maybe" visiting. His teammate, receiver Josh Smith, 6-2, 195, 4.48 said he's been talking to Hog OC-QB coach Jim Chaney a lot and he labels the chance he makes an official visit to Arkansas as "good". Both are Tennessee commitments.
