I know it was a cold night of shooting (FT's and from the field), but honestly, the biggest problem was the fact that we had next to NO rebounding. I'm probably going to get some stones thrown at me, but this falls on the coaching staff. I understand CMA was trying to get his best unit on the floor for pressing, but we were just getting throttled under the rim and we didn't make the right adjustments--Sanchez was NOT getting it done. I thought the officials were calling way too many ticky-tack fouls that took away from the game. Also, I know we're trying to keep guys fresh, due to our fast pace, but honestly--I think we do it a little too much (at least on the road) because we just don't seem to gain any kind of continuity during the course of the games on the road. For the life of me I couldn't understand why there was absolutely no sign of our best defender & shot blocker in the paint, Hunter Mickelson, for the majority of the game. Also, I didn't understand why BJ Young kept getting sent to the bench when he was one of the only players that was scoring and really pushing the tempo. I guess you live and you learn. It wasn't a terrible game, but it was winnable--which at the end of the day was the frustrating part. Time to regroup and get back to work. GO HOGS!!!

Man this was like watching a Pelphrey team all over again. Win a big game at home, and then go lay an egg on the road. How can 5,000 bored fans be that big of an advantage? We had moments, but overall we didn't have the same intensity level as the other night. I've posted it many times - college basketball powers are all playing true freshmen. It' part of the game. Kentucky has no problem going on the road against subpar competition and beating the pants off teams. I'm not saying our freshmen are as talented as UKs, but Ole Miss is not a good team. This game should not have happened.

It will get better. Our best players are freshmen and Mike has yet to bring in a single recruit of his own.
The reason this team looks like a pelphrey team is because JP put it together.
Mike will have us rolling soon enough.

His Missouri team beat a heavily favored Memphis team to advance to the elite 8 a few years back.

Got to get the bigs (or in our case the mediums) more involved. Guards can win all day at home but ya gotta get bigger and badder on the road because shots don't fall as well.
First sign of getting better is beating bad teams on the road and good teams at home. We will. We sure didn't pass the road test but we will.
HogPenn09 I agree with everything you said but we all must remember this isn't the year to judge, We can p*** and moan but can't judge.
Go Hogs.

Rebounding was terrible - agreed. I don't aree on BJ Young. While I love the kid, he was not playing well last night. Finally, this is a young team, I guarantee you CMA will fix the problem, just needs time. They are already more fun to watch than most of the teams we have seen in the past 7 years. Not having Marshawn really hurts too, especially in a game like last night. WPS, GHG!!

Some of the arm chair coaches on this site are pretty hysterical. The Razorbacks consist of nine scholarship players, four of whom are freshmen, playing a brand new style of basketball. The team also lost its best and most experienced player for the season as well as one heralded freshmen to academic issues.
Winning on the road is a process under the best of circumstances - and, these circumstances, are far from ideal.
It will take some time, another recruiting class, and hopefully, the return of two very talented players who are currently unavailable because of health or academic issues.
In any event, I am a little more than tired of the media's continued coverage of road related problems involving this team. After a while, the dialogue becomes a self fulfilling expectation and result. As with Bobby Petrino and "slow starts" involving the football guys, in my opinion, Mike Anderson should stop answering those tiresome and repeated questions and politely move on to the next raised hand in the room.

Take into consideration that we started the game with some good pressure and the whistles started blowing on a lot of nothing against us, I watch lots of bball and its always the same with SEC home teams refs, the SEC to me has refs calling touch fouls and dont have a clue on blocking and charging calls or they do and they always use them against the visiting teams, and yes I mean in Bud Walton too! Come on SEC lets clean up the calls and let these teams play ball like the Big East and ACC! Hell our kids had to back off the pressure because any dogging on someone the whistle blew. I agree we got to get Madden, Young, and Mickleson more minutes along with Waithe, these kids are gamers all the way. This loss on film should be a good teaching tool for MA to show how to box out under goal and maybe fake shot to get defender in air under goal, for that killed us at times last night. But these kids will get better for sure, this can be an interesting season yet, hell I still see a good chance for the NIT at least and if not thats ok cause I gaurantee next year will be our coming out year in the rankings.

Agree, didn't see anyone make any remarks that warranted the armchair response. DWP normally makes great points and comments. Maybe just an off day, like our young basketball team.

Know it all, arm chair coach, sometimes right, sometimes wrong, Im just a HOG through thick and thin. A pretty happy one these days I might add.
Like I said once before, Michael Jordan once said all white 5'11" guys think they are sports reporters. That fits me to a tee.
Go Hogs.

I think MA is a great coach and will win big later on, but not this year. I guess the thing that really bothered me about this game was that we played "soft". I can take us being cold and losing but I don't like watching a "soft" team. I got all I wanted of that when opie was coaching us. We finally started showing some fire late, but not able to sustain it.
HogPenn09 - I thought you made some good points, but I don't understand the fascination with Mickelson. You think he's our best defender? Huh? It looks to me like he wants to be a 6'11 jump shooter. He looks LOST in the lane imo. And lacks toughness. But when the other option is Sanchez ... well, let's just say we are running a little short-handed in the post this year. Powell's injury hurts this year's team alot.
