If it had been anyone but Dennis Dodd, it might be suspicious.

I'm not worried about Coach Patrino missing a Home visit. I think he has already visited DGB and besides, two Assistant Coaches are scheduled in home this week. WHAT WORRIES ME is Mack Brown's visit this past Wed. Mack doesn't make many prospect visits anymore, so when a prospect gets one, it is considered royal treatment. When Brown gets there he tells them what they want to hear and Mack has made no secret how he tells them of the STAR POWER of the LONGHORN NETWORK and what it can do for his recruits no other school can do. Mack won't break NCAA rules, but every indirect benifit that can be offered may be offered. Yes, I'm worried about this guy, he's not called Mr. February down in Texas for nothing.

Don't worry about Mac. He can't pass the ball, he dosn't have anybody that can, and, quite frankly, he is not a good coach based upon the talent he gets every year as to their record.

Bobby Petrino's pro style offense would run circles around the Horns - as well as most other offenses for that matter. UT made a late push for Cobi Hamilton and number 11 [wisely] made the right choice.

It has been reported that DGB wants to stay and play close to home. Springfield is approximately 200 miles from Colombia and 150 miles from Fayetteville.

DGB is said to be a smart kid from a very supportive family and inner circle. Regardless of where he signs, it will likely be a good decision.

Footnote: Others have mentioned this before, but it's "PEtrino", Texas-Hog, and he also made the right decision by letting the chips fall, under the circumstances, without a late home visit. Class act.

"There are some who don’t know Dodd. He’s about as objective a journalist as there is. He may love his Tigers, but he would never let it interfere with his reporting" ********Nice of you to say Wally but not true. Those of us that venture over to CBS over the years have seen Dodd's bias surface more than once. A very unprofessional column was written the other day, and the intent was very clear !

Wally, I don't think I have ever disagreed with you on anything relevant; but your assessment about Dennis Dodd is 100% off base. Perhaps Dodds should be considered irrelevant for the sake of being positive on your blog?

I started reading Dodds last year when the A&M to SEC story first broke. He tore A&M apart as a laughing stock that no one wanted. Remember when SEC Presidents met and decided to make no decision. He was all Big 12 saying the SEC did not want Aggies. He has bashed Arkansas with every opportunity to paint picture to save the Bevo League. When Aggies actually left he turned again but now he was faced with OU, UT, Tech & OSU leaving for Pac 12 leaving Mizzou in the dust. His article became rants of desperation and quite entertaining from a shock jock writer prospective. Nothing of value; but a hypocritical writer changing like the wind about his alma mater Mizzou. Ultimate proof was when Mizzou shifted gears to go to SEC. He lobbied hard about waiting for Big 10, but when it done he paints Mizzou as making a good decision but of course Hogs & A&M were painted as villains. If you or anyone can show or reference me any article by Dodds that was either neutral or positive about the Arkansas Razorbacks, I will retract, otherwise he is one of the leaders that attempt to negatively smear the Arkansas program on the National scene. I will reference all of his articles about CMA when his decision was made to leave Mizzou for Arkansas. He trashed / painted Anderson as not being an elite coach.

Next year by default he will stop trashing SEC for Bevo League because the Mizzou State has gone from "Show Me" to "Can't beat em so join em". Even with that, I expect his rants against Arkansas to continue as it become more heated between Mizzou and Arkansas.

Wally Hall is a Missouri graduate. Could that be relevant to this discussion?

I believe what he wrote was about as childish and amateur as it gets - he is an unprofessional, biased jerk and CBSSports should be ashamed

@Tom,

I think that is very relevant. I did not know that? Wally's defense of his fellow Missourian Dodds is inexplicable and would be thrown out in any court as a bias.

BTW; Dodds wrote several articles bashing Arkansas and SEC Academics. He felt Mizzou did not need to lower it's Academic Standards. He only hated on A&M because he new of damage it would do to Bevo League if they left. BIG not wanting them hurt broke their hearts, not being a part of the bus that Texas & OU was driving to PAC 12 was ultimate slap in the face. Their President whom I think is very intelligent led the Bevo League but he woke up and stepped down. I am glad Mizzou & A&M are in SEC but it ticks me off to have people constantly put down Arkansas and the program. Especially Missouri folks. I researched all of that Academic talk (AAU) and found that we are not that far from schools like Missouri and A&M, the only difference is the number of recognized faculty and a private club like organization that invites who they want. Nebraska was in one year and out the next. With exception of prestige schools like MIT, Yale, Harvard, Stanford etc. it is not something that any major state school should be sweating. Some of the writings go so far as saying that those that graduate from those schools will make $25k more per year than others. I know that to be NOT true; as I hire folks from A&M, Texas, Ohio State etc., and we do not pay anything different because of the school you graduate from, just the qualifications.

Get used to it folks. Missouri sports journalists are particularly in a state of withdrawal over joining the SEC. They presume that Missou already has a presence in the SEC. I personally cannot wait for them to face someone like Alabama.

Storied victories like Arkansas' mauling of Texas in the 2000 Cotton Bowl, the victory against KSU in this year's Cotton Bowl and other great games in the past like our 7 and 6OT's over Ole Miss and Tennessee get a block score mention somewhere between page 3 and 10 of the St. Louis Post-Disgrace newspaper.

I posted a picture once of Ronnie Wingo in uniform in an email once to Brian Burwell of the Post-Disgrace with the title: St. Louis Prep Star Looks Good in Red and White, doesn't he?

They hate covering the Hogs or any of the SEC here in St. Louis.

They better get used to doing exactly what they hate.
