ARKANSAS VS. SOUTH CAROLINA BREAKDOWN

Arkansas looked sharp while beating Kent State 8-1 on Saturday. But Kent State was making its first College World Series appearance, and it showed with some sloppy play from the Flashes.

South Carolina, a two-time defending national champion, beat Florida 7-3 Saturday night for its 22nd consecutive victory in NCAA Tournament games. The Gamecocks won’t be nervous facing the Razorbacks tonight before a packed crowd at TD Ameritrade Park.

Still, the Razorbacks (6-1 in the NCAA Tournament) are on a roll, and they might have the best pitching of any of the teams in Omaha. Arkansas can draw encouragement from its performance against South Carolina in the regular-season series. Arkansas might have won 2 of 3 had it not blown a six-run lead in the series opener at Baum Stadium. Ryne Stanek, who was bothered by back spasms in that game, will get another chance at the Gamecocks tonight.

Arkansas is playing its best baseball right now, but knocking off a Gamecocks team ridiing a 22-game NCAA Tournament winning streak is a very tough challenge for any team.

PREDICTION South Carolina beats Arkansas while making a strong run to a third consecutive national championship
