School LAST SEASON Averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds THE SKINNY Powell is back and close to 100 percent recovered from right knee surgery he underwent last winter to repair a torn ligament, which caused him to miss all but the first two games. He is the team’s most experienced player, and his return should result in a huge boost for the inside game. He was a preseason All-SEC second-team pick.

Mardracus Wade CLASS Junior HEIGHT 6-2 WEIGHT 175 POSITION Guard HIGH SCHOOL Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy LAST SEASON Averaged 10.8 points and 1.8 rebounds THE SKINNY Wade developed into one of the country’s top three-point shooters last season when he hit 47.6 percent (70 of 147) from beyondthe arc. He figures to get better looks this season with an improved inside game to open up the perimeter. Coach Mike Anderson said he’s also expecting Wade to be a defensive force.

He had the highest number of assists last season (79) among returning players and will need to be more of a playmaker with Julysses Nobles’ transfer. He does a good job of pushing the ball on the break and plays physical defense. He needs to become a more consistent shooter after hitting 11 of 61 three-point attempts last season.

Coty Clarke CLASS Junior HEIGHT 6-7 WEIGHT 225 POSITION Forward JUNIOR COLLEGE Lawson State (Ala.) LAST SEASON Averaged 14.5 points and 13.0 rebounds THE SKINNY Clarke is a physical inside player the Razorbacks desperately need and is an especially aggressive rebounder. Ky Madden CLASS Sophomore HEIGHT 6-5 WEIGHT 180 POSITION Guard HIGH SCHOOL East Poinsett County LAST SEASON Averaged 6.6 points and 3.3 reboundsTHE SKINNY Madden figures to get a lot of time at point guard with his ability to pass and handle the ball. He can score, but he doesn’t have to in order to be effective. He’s a good defender, and the undersized Razorbacks will need him to rebound. He needs to be more consistent; his play fell off over the latter part of last season.

Hunter Mickelson CLASS Sophomore HEIGHT 6-10 WEIGHT 245 POSITION Forward HIGH SCHOOL Jonesboro Westside LAST SEASON Averaged 5.2 points and 3.7 rebounds THE SKINNY Mickelson set an Arkansas freshman record with 72 blocked shots last season.
