Rogers sees positive in Wise being a Hog

Zach Rogers

— Carrollton (Texas) Hebron sophomore offensive lineman Zach Rogers, who has a scholarship offer from Arkansas, was able to catch up with Hog freshman defensive end Deatrich Wise, who attended Hebron last year.

Rogers, 6-3, 275 pounds, 5.06 seconds in the 40-yard dash, said having Wise as a future teammate could help Arkansas’ chances with Rogers.

“That could definitely be a factor because I would have someone that I would know,” Rogers said. “It’s not a huge deal but it would be nice to have someone there that I could look up to and ask for help if I needed something.”

Rogers, who attended the Hogs’ game against Alabama, has also been to Oklahoma, Texas Tech and TCU for games. The Red Raiders extended an offer not long after the Razorbacks offered. He believes the Sooners could be the next to offer.

“They’re the one I’ve been talking to a lot,” said Rogers, who reports a 360-pound bench press and 475 squat. “So that could be one in the future.”

When Rogers, who turns 16 in December, is looking to make a college decision, he said the Hogs will be in the mix.

“I think they’re definitely be up there being in the SEC and always being a top-notch school,” Rogers said. “I know this year they’re having some trouble but I see them getting back on track and getting back to what I’ve always known as Arkansas as a top school in the country. It’s also a great school and a great place to get an education.”
