Hogs' stars stand out in scrimmage

— BJ Young scored 28 points and led his team to a 85-75 win Tuesday night in Arkansas' Red-White intrasquad game at Bud Walton Arena.

Young scored 20 points in the second half as his Red team held off a late rally after leading by as many as 15 points. The sophomore guard hit 13 of his 20 field goal attempts, including a pair of 3-pointers.

He was aided by great performances by a pair of his teammates. Hunter Mickelson scored 20 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked 7 shots, while freshman guard Anthlon Bell scored 19 points thanks to five made 3-pointers.

Alandise Harris, a transfer from Houston, added a double-double for the Red team with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Rashad Madden added 10 rebounds while scoring 6 points for the winning team.

The Red squad hit 35 of 74 shots and out-rebounded its competition 49-41.

Marshawn Powell led the White team with 22 points on 10 of 22 shooting. The redshirt junior forward, who missed most of last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, added six rebounds.

Rickey Scott scored 13 points, Kikko Haydar 11 points - all in the first half - and Davion Spivey 10 points for the losing squad. Coty Clarke led the White team with 11 rebounds.

Arkansas will play its first exhibition game on Friday against Southwest Baptist, followed by another against LeMoyne-Owen next Tuesday. The Razorbacks open the regular season with a game against Sam Houston State on Nov. 9.
