Razorbacks report

Receiver expected to start

— Arkansas wide receiver Cobi Hamilton practiced for a second consecutive day Tuesday and is expected to start against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday night at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

Hamilton missed the last three quarters of the opener against Jacksonville State because of what Arkansas Coach John L. Smith described as “an injury above the shoulders.”

“Day 1, coming back to practice, he was a little sloppy, but much better today,” quarterback Tyler Wilson said after Tuesday’s practice. “You saw that look back in his eyes, and he caught a number of balls and looked really, really good.” No looking ahead

Offensive coordinator Paul Petrino said the Razorbacks won’t be caught looking past Louisiana-Monroe and ahead to their Sept. 15 SEC opener against No. 1 Alabama.

“We’re worried about today,” Petrino said. “We just got done talking after practice [and] we’re worried about tomorrow’s practice.

We’re not even worried about the game yet.

“We’ve got to get better tomorrow in practice.

We’ve got to have a great Wednesday practice. Let’s worry about tomorrow. Let’s get better tomorrow. While we’re actually in practice, let’s worry about the next play and get better on the next play.” Up to eighth

Arkansas moved up two spots to No. 8 in The Associated Press Top 25 poll Tuesday. The Razorbacks remained at No. 10 in the USA Today coaches poll.

Arkansas has been in the top 10 of the AP rankings for 13 consecutive weeks, dating to Oct. 2, 2011, which is the fourth-longest active streak in the nation and tied for the fourth-longest stretch in school history.

Moss out

Louisiana-Monroe linebacker Austin Moss, a transfer from Arkansas, will miss Saturday night’s game because he has pneumonia, Warhawks Coach Todd Berry said.

D.J. does it

Dennis Johnson had96 yards in kickoff returns Saturday to move into third place on the SEC career list behind Florida’s Brandon James, (2,718 yards in 2006-2009), and Georgia’s Brandon Boykin (2,663, 2008-2011).

Johnson has 2,571 yards after surpassing Mississippi State’s Derek Pegues (2,498) and South Carolina’s Chris Culliver (2,476).

Johnson’s best return Saturday, a 42-yarder early in the second quarter, came when he started 5 or 6 yards deep in the end zone.

“I knew the whole time I was bringing it out, because in my mind we needed a spark,” Johnson said. “I did what I was expecting to do.”
