Florida athlete interested in Hogs after talk with G.A.

Athlete D'Cota Dixon is considering a summer visit to Arkansas.

Arkansas graduate assistant Terrance Butler educated athlete D'Cota Dixon about the Razorback program and a visit from the Florida prospect appears to be in the works.

"He sent me a lot of links of video of Arkansas football , the tradition, how the campus is and academics," said Dixon in Tuesday's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. "Basically it was like a little visit but through video. I might actually go up there this summer and get a visit in for camp or something like that. It sounds real nice."

Dixon, 5-10, 190, 4.50 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. has approximately 13 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, West Virginia, Louisville and Illinois. He said Butler has increased his level of interest in the Hogs.

"Actually, he did because honestly I never liked Arkansas," Dixon said. "I always thought it was a good school but I didn't thought "Yeah, if they offered me I would go"."

Because Dixon is equally skilled at running back and defensive back, Arkansas coaches are debating on what side of the ball they see him playing.

"Right now, I guess the staff is trying to decide," Dixon said. "I'm listed on their chart as an athlete They want me to come up for a camp and see where I would like to play."

Dixon, who has a 3.8 grade point average, will seek out a school with strong academics, tradition and family atmosphere.

"Playing time will contribute a lot to it," he said. "Because I want to play, might not be right away but I want to at least get experience. I would say playing, tradition and family. I'm really into that with my own team right now. It's like family. It's can't be an individual that stands out on the team. Playing as a team and sacrifice for each other."
