— North Little Rock junior point guard Anton Beard committed to Arkansas on Monday.

Beard, who is rated a consensus 4-star recruit after playing the last three seasons at Little Rock Parkview, said Arkansas coach Mike Anderson did an in-home visit with him on Tuesday before he made his pledge. Anderson and Razorbacks assistant TJ Cleveland had watched him during the Nike EYBI event in Los Angeles over the weekend.

He is the first commitment for the Razorbacks in the class of 2014. He had previously been committed to Missouri, but backed out on that decision last season.

Beard chose the Hogs over other scholarship offers from LSU, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and UMass. Oral commitments are non-binding.
