Rutgers transfer Jerome Seagears left the Scarlet Knight basketball program after the firing of Coach Mike Rice and is focused on finding a good relationship with his new school's head coach.
Seagears, 6-2, 175 pounds, made an official visit to Arkansas over the weekend and his comfort level with Coach Mike Anderson seems to be high.
"I think coach Anderson is a great guy, he's a winning coach," said Seagears, who previously visited Auburn. "He has a winning tradition. I definitely think he knows what he's doing. Coach (T.J.) Cleveland is pretty cool. So other than that I've seen the school, I've seen the whole Razorback community basically. So I think it was a good visit."
Seagears, who attended Red Springs (N.C.) Flora McDonald Academy and was rated the nation's No. 23 point-guard prospect by ESPN in 2011, averaged 6.5 points and 2.6 assists this past season. He was able to play pickup ball with the current Hog players during the visit.
"It went well, it went well," Seagears said. "I think they have some great pieces to actually make a big run in the tournament this upcoming year. Alandise Harris to Coty Clarke to Mike Qualls. The only thing they need is probably a floor general and that would be me."
His leadership capability, ability to create and help his teammates is what makes him a solid point guard.
"Just my ability to create a shot for myself and others and bringing that team leadership to the team and being a good fit for the fellas," Seagears said. "Actually helping them out and keeping their focus. Just being the person that I am and having good qualities of a leader."
Seagears said he'll announce between Arkansas and Auburn Wednesday morning.
