Florida DB planning Arkansas visit

Defensive back Cornelius Floyd is planning to make an official visit to Arkansas.

Arkansas is recruiting Cornelius Floyd as a safety but he's also one of the few defensive backs that could play cornerback on the next level.

“I think I’m going to play more safety for my team because we have so many athletes,” said Floyd, who plans to make an official visit to Fayetteville. “They want me to play safety to get a feel for it for college because a lot of coaches want me to play safety.”

Floyd, 6-1, 170, 4.49 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Miami Gulliver Prep reports having 14 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Wake Forrest, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. He called linebackers coach Randy Shannon a “father figure”.

“He wants to know how the family is doing,” Floyd said. “He jokes around. He’s a very funny guy.

He said he has what’s needed to play in the nation’s toughest conference.

“I have the height and I have the speed to play in the SEC and also the heart,” Floyd said. “I’m a smart player. I have the mental game to play in the SEC.”

College coaches are limited on the number of phone calls and times when they can make contact by phone. One of the ways coaches can communicate at all times with recruits is by private messages on Twitter.

“I probably get three to four messages a day from coaches,” he said. “It’s good way to contact coaches and interact with them.”’
