Arkansas set to host Wallace

Highly recruited offensive lineman Brian Wallace Jr. is set to arrive in Fayetteville on Friday.

One of Arkansas’ top remaining offensive line prospects, Brain Wallace Jr. will soon arrive today in Fayetteville with his father for their Saturday visit.

Wallace, 6-6, 304, 5.2 seconds in the 40 yard dash had more than 20 scholarship offers but has trimmed down to his top five, Arkansas, Alabama, Iowa, Nebraska and Ohio State. He plans to take his official visits in the fall and make his decision after his season.

“Mainly the academics and the football program,” said Wallace on what he’s focused on during the trip. “As far as how well I’ll fit in.”

He’s rated by ESPN as the No. 16 offensive tackle and No. 151 overall prospect in the nation along with being the No. 3 recruit in Missouri. Wallace is interested in getting a feel for football program.

“The attitude like the players, are they getting into trouble or not,” Wallace said. “Are they doing well in class?”

Wallace, who plans to major in sociology, is being recruited by offensive line coach Sam Pittman and graduate assistant Eric Mateos and has developed nice relationships with the two coaches.

“He’s a real nice guy,” said Wallace of Pittman. “He’s a real good coach.”

Wallace, who has been invited to play in the U.S. Army All American game in San Antonio, is looking forward to meeting Mateos.

“He’s been sending me letters as well as coach Pittman,” said Wallace, who may hang out with some of the Razorback players tonight. “I haven’t met him in person. It’s mainly been over the phone and through Facebook.”
