Cornelius, 6-1, 190, of Shreveport Evangel Christian, had eight scholarship offers, including ones from Missouri, Tennessee, Tulsa and San Diego State.

He and his mother visited the Hogs for the Elite Prospect Camp on July 19. Receivers coach Michael Smith is his lead recruiter. He had 87 receptions for 1,589 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior.

Evangel Coach Byron Dawson said Cornelius is in the top five of all the receivers the school has produced.

"Jared, we feel like he's one of the best receivers in the state of Louisiana," Dawson said. "He has great hands, he works hard. He knows how to run routes. He's precise in his route running. He has all of those intangibles that make him a great wideout."

The Hogs also have commitments from receivers Torrance Mosley, 5-10, 175, 4.4 and Corey McBride, 6-2, 180, 4.34 of Geismar (La.) Dutchtown.

Arkansas now has 15 pledges for the 2014 class.

Cornelius said he's already recruiting his teammate and defensive back Santos Ramirez, who has an offer from the Hogs, to join him in Fayetteville. Both visited the Hogs for the Elite Camp in July.

He said the Arkansas coaching staff put the Razorbacks over the top. His respect for receivers coach Michael Smith's ability to get him to the NFL was big.

He said he called Smith about one or two today and told him and Coach Bret Bielema he was a Hog. He said they were very excited.

He feels like he can relate to Smith and he'll be honest with him.
