Highly recruited O-lineman plans visit to Fayetteville

Offensive lineman Josh Allen plans to enroll at Arkansas.

Offensive lineman Josh Allen will use one of his five official visits for a trip to Arkansas because he feels wanted by the Hogs.

“I just want to go there and see what they’re about and just have a good time and meet the players and the coaches and see what the place is like,” said Allen, who’s committed to North Carolina.

Allen, 6-3, 305, 5.1 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Jacksonville, (Fla.) University Christian School has 23 scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, North Carolina, Florida State, Georgia and Nebraska. He believes offensive line coach Sam Pittman can help him as a player and a person.

“He can help me get to the next level and make a man out of you,” Allen said.

Off the field, Allen is active in his church and sees the chance to use football as a way to impact lives in a positive way.

“We’re on this earth for a purpose,” Allen said. “For me, I have a great opportunity. I love the game of football and God has blessed with the talent to play football.”

The personable Allen enjoys working with youth.

“I love kids,” said Allen, who’s often referred to as a gentle giant. ”I try to be a role model for all kids especially my little cousins I try to be a good role model to them and set good examples.”

Allen, who’s also looking at taking officials visits to North Carolina, Florida State and Georgia Tech and Georgia, has a 415 pound bench press and a 595 squat.

A coaching staff with the ability to make him better on and off the field is one of several things Allen is looking for in a school.

“Coaches that can push me to excel in life or the next level if I get to the next level,” said Allen, who’s also being recruited by Coach Bret Bielema along with graduate assistants Eric Mateos and Terrance Butler. “Academics, good players, beautiful campus. Just a good environment to grow up in.”
