SEC basketball schedule released

Arkansas coach Mike Anderson applauds during the second half of play against Kentucky Saturday, March 2, 2013, in Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

— The Southeastern Conference basketball schedule was released Tuesday.

Nationally televised home and away contests against Kentucky and Missouri, and a home game against Florida highlight the schedule for Arkansas. The Razorbacks are also scheduled to play twice against Georgia, LSU and Alabama.

Arkansas is scheduled to begin the conference season with a game at Texas A&M on Jan. 8 and end it on the road at Alabama two months later. The Razorbacks' games at Missouri (Feb. 13) and Kentucky (Feb. 27) are followed by home games less than 48 hours later.

Consecutive nationally televised games against Florida (Jan. 11) and Kentucky (Jan. 14) open conference play in Fayetteville. It is the third consecutive year the Gators will play at Bud Walton Arena and second consecutive year for the Wildcats.

Six games are scheduled to be televised by either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

With the release of the SEC schedule there are now 23 known dates for the Razorbacks in the coming season. Arkansas has yet to announce its full nonconference schedule.

The Razorbacks have confirmed games against California at the three-day Maui Invitational, as well as home games against Louisiana and High Point. Arkansas is also expected to announce a two-year series against SMU beginning next season.
