Charleston quarterback Ty Storey, a 2015 Arkansas commitment, was named the MVP of the Class 3A state game on Saturday night. He led the Tigers to a 42-19 victory over Glen Rose by completing 18 of 31 passes for 378 yards and a record tying 6 touchdowns for a championship game.
He finished the season with 4,230 yards and 52 touchdowns.
Glen Rose junior running back Carlos Burton had 18 carries for 189 yards and 2 touchdowns for the game.
Pine Bluff junior tight end Will Gragg said he and North Little Rock junior receiver K.J. Hill want to attend the same college.
Receiver Frank Iheanacho of Houston Westside said on Twitter that he'll announce his top five schools on Christmas Day. He had a conversation with running backs coach Joel Thomas on Saturday.
He plans to announce his college decision at the U.S. Army All American game on Jan. 4.
Arkansas defensive line commitment Bijhon Jacksonof El Dorado said Coach Bret Bielema and tight end coach Barry Lunney Jr. informed him that defensive line coach Charlie Partridge had been offer the FAU job shortly after the Wildcats won the Class 6A state title last weekend. He said the coaches wanted to be the first to tell him.
Jackson said Partridge leaving has no impact commitment, but was very disappointed to see him leave. He called Partridge a great coach but even better person.
Several in-state prospects will take part in the U.S. Army All American combine on Jan. 3. Defensive lineman Daytrieon Dean of Ft. Smith Northside, athlete D.J. Brown of Little Rock Catholic and running back Denzel Mitchell of Jonesboro are some expected to participate.
Gragg and Storey are expected to participate in the Under Armour All American combine.
Defensive end Kevin Bronson of Delray Beach, (Fla.) Village Academy said he's no longer planning to visit Arkansas after the departure of Partridge.
