Warren offensive lineman Jhamahl Bell's video has impressed Arkansas and that has lead to steady communication between him and the Hogs.
Bell, 6-3 1/2, 295 pounds recently talked to offensive line coach Sam Pittman on Friday and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. on Saturday. Video highlights click here
"He was saying how he liked my tape and how athletic I was and he said he wants to build a relationship." Bell said of Pittman.
He said he spoke to Lunney on Saturday and earlier in the week by private messages on Twitter
"He was saying how he was impressed by my tape," Bell said. "He said they're showing a lot of interest right now and he sees me as a center or guard in college."
Bell plans to visit the Razorbacks on March 9.
"It's very high," said Bell of his interest in the Hogs. "I've liked Arkansas since I was a little boy. Arkansas has always been my favorite team. "
Lumberjacks Coach Bo Hembree has sent numerous athletes off to Division I schools, including former Arkansas tight end Chris Gragg, receivers Jarius Wright and Greg Childs. Bell said Wright tries to come back to Warren during his breaks from the Minnesota Vikings.
"He came right after two-a-days I think," Bell said. "He was telling us different things about Arkansas. He came down for our playoff game against Malvern and he gave us a pregame speech. He's not a rah- rah guy. He's more calm type of guy. He just gives it to you straight up. He said every game could be your last play so play hard."
If Arkansas should extend a scholarship offer, Bell wants to express his gratitude.
"First of all, I would honor God because that's who made it all possible," Bell said. "I would thank him first and I would probably thank coach Pittman and thank coach Hembree for giving my tape to them and then thank (offensive line)coach (Clay) Bemberg."
Bell, who reports bench pressing about 300 pounds and 390 squat, said an offer from the Hogs would likely end his recruiting.
"I would probably commit," Bell said. "It would be a dream because this time last year when I was working during the offseason I would be thinking of that but I didn't really think it could happen."
Once he does make it to college, Bell, who has about a 3.0 grade point average, plans to major in computer science.
"I want to work for Apple." Bell said.
His love for computers started back in kindergarten when he father bought the family Windows 98.
"I work on my relative's computer and give them tips," Bell said. "As I grew older became more advanced in my skills with computers."
Bell is grateful for the way his parents raised him.
"They've told me to do what's right," Bell said. "It's not that hard to do what's right. They's always told me to do that."
