Devon Allen update

Arkansas has hired George McDonald to coach receivers. He spent the last two seasons with the Miami Hurricanes after a stint with the NFL's Cleveland Browns.

Receiver Devon Allen, 6 -1, 190 pounds, 4.48 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Phoenix Brophy Prep and his father, Louis have had very positive talks with Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema and receivers coach George McDonald over the last 24 hours and they plan to continue to have discussions with both coaches.

Allen, who has more than 20 football scholarship offers, including Arkansas, is rated the No. 99 prospect in the nation by national recruiting analyst Tom Lemming of CBS Sports Network.

He had one of the better performances in last night's Semper Fi All American game with 6 receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown. While he had an outstanding game, Allen was probably about 85% or so after hurting his ankle earlier in the week.

Arkansas and Arizona State are fighting it out to get Allen's last official visit. He's also one of the top track athletes in the nation with best times of 10.49 seconds in the 100 meters, 20.75 in the 200 and 48.45 in the 400, 13.52 seconds in the 110-meter high hurdles and 36.39 in the 300 hurdles.
