— Quarterback Jacoby Brissett has announced his decision to transfer from Florida, and Arkansas is one of his potential landing spots, according to the Palm Beach Post in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Brissett, who lost out in a race for the starting quarterback job to fellow sophomore Jeff Driskel this year, completed 23 of 35 passes for 249 yards, with 1 touchdown pass and 1 touchdown run.

The Post, citing an anonymous source, said Brissett’s top choices are West Virginia, Louisville, Arkansas and North Carolina State. Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema’s Wisconsin staff recruited Brissett out of Dwyer High in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., for the 2011 signing class. Brissett must sit out in 2013 before becoming a redshirt junior the following season.

Based on its fall roster, Arkansas has two scholarship quarterbacks on board in senior Brandon Mitchell and sophomore Brandon Allen, and an oral commitment from Fayetteville’s Austin Allen, who led the Bulldogs to the Class 7A state championship in December. Other quarterbacks on the roster this fall were sophomore transfer Taylor Reed and walk-ons Brian Buehner and Davis McElroy. A.J. Derby, who started his career at Iowa before transferring to Coffeyville (Kan.) Junior College, is reportedly set to transfer to Arkansas as a walk-on.
