Wednesday recruiting tidbits

Arkansas hired Charlie Partridge as its defensive coach on Dec. 15, 2012.

It appears defensive lineman Monty Nelson of Plantation, Florida has some work to do in the classroom and the chances of Arkansas signing him are less as of today. There is an outside chance.

Athlete Marcus Davis of Delray Beach, Fla. said Hog cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson will visit his school and home today. He's expected to visit Feb. 1.

Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema is visiting Wellington, (Fla.) Palm Beach Central to check on 2014 offensive lineman K.C. McDermott today.

Arkansas linebacker coach Randy Shannon visited Miami Coral Reef high school to check on 2014 receiver Jacob McCrary this week.

Bielema and defensive line coach Charlie Partridge are expected to visit defensive lineman Ke'Tyrus Marks of Riviera Beach (Fla.) Suncoast today. Marks will be visiting the Hogs this weekend and will likely commit.

Arkansas tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. called Osceola Coach Russell Leggett on Monday to say the Hogs were evaluating running back Korliss Marshall, who's committed to UCA. Alabama-Birmingham has offered and asst. coach Kevin Peoples is expected to visit the school today.

Tulsa Washington Coach Marvin Dantzler said Arkansas and Oklahoma will make in-home visits with athlete Dominque Alexander, who's committed to the Sooners, this week. Alexander will make an official visit to Kansas State this weekend. He officially visited the Hogs over the weekend. Dantzler believes it's between Arkansas and Oklahoma but isn't ready to say that's 100% because of the nature of recruiting.

Miami Washington Coach Tim Harris said Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema, linebackers coach Randy Shannon and offensive line coach Sam Pittman did an early morning in-home visit with offensive lineman Denver Kirkland and his mother on Tuesday. His mother will join him on his official visit to Fayetteville this weekend. He's also visited Ole Miss, Florida State, South Florida and Miami.

Harris said Kirkland will announce his decision on signing day on ESPN.

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema will make his in-home visit with Plantation, (Fla.) South running back Alex Collins next week. A few days after Collins makes his visit to Fayetteville. Collins tweeted he was visited by Arkansas defensive line coach Charlie Partridge and running backs coach Joel Thomas today.

Louis Allen, father of Phoenix Brophy receiver Devon Allen, said he believes he and Devon will be making the scheduled Feb. 1 visit to Arkansas. Oregon offered Allen on Tuesday.

Athlete Jeryl Brazil, a LSU commitment from Loranger, La. said he will not make an official visit to Arkansas on Feb. 1.

Hog Coach Bret Bielema will arrive at North Little Rock high school at 2 p.m. on Thursday to visit with running back Altee Tenpenny. He will make an in-home with Tenpenny at 5.

Alabama asst. coach Mike Groh was at North Little Rock high school for three hours today to check on Tenpenny.

Arkansas tight end coach Barry Lunney Jr. will visit Pulaski Academy to see tight end Hunter Henry.

Forrest City defensive end Tevin Beanum will host He;s been selected to play in the Arkansas high school All Star game.

Hog receiver coach Michael Smith will visit Drew Morgan at Greenwood high school on Friday.

Fayetteville linebacker Brooks Ellis said Coach Bret Bielema will visit his school and home on Monday.

Defensive lineman Ke'Tyrus Marks of Riviera Beach, Fla. Suncoast and his mother had a school visit with Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema and defensive lineman Charlie Partridge. He said Bielema made a big impression on his mother. She asked Bielema numerous questions and Marks said he did a great job answering. He had talked to Bielema on the phone but today was the first time to see him. He called Bielema a great guy and very down-to-earth.

Marks has previously said he'll likely commit to Arkansas if his visit goes well and he said that again today.

Running back Matt Dayes of Weston, (Fla.) Cypress Bay hosted running backs coach Joel Thomas for an in-home visit tonight. He liked what Thomas had to say about the Hogs depth chart and need for running backs. He has visited North Carolina State and Central Florida and will be visiting Vanderbilt this weekend. If he doesn't make his decision this weekend, he'll decide from South Florida, Miami or Arkansas for his last visit.
