The Opening day III updates

News-Times/Michael Orrell 2012-13 El Dorado Wildcat Bijhon Jackson

— An Arkansas recruit, defensive end Chad Thomas of Miami Washington won the best defensive lineman award in the Lineman Challenge today at The Opening. Thomas consistently pushed back much heavier offensive lineman and use his speed and quickness to win most of his reps.

As reported on Monday, he said there's a good chance he makes an official visit to Arkansas. He attended the same school of Hog offensive lineman Denver Kirkland.

Center J.C. Hassenauer of Woodbury, Minn. East Ridge was awarded the offensive line honors. He's an Alabama commitment.

Arkansas defensive lineman commitment Bijhon Jackson won three of the four reps against Alabama commitments. He was 1 and 1 against Hassenauer. He pushed Hassenauer back very quickly into the practice dummy that serves as the QB on the first rep.

Hassenauer looked to body slam Jackson the second rep but Jackson said he slipped and that contributed to the losing the rep. Would be hard to believe Hassenauer would be able to body slam Jackson without some sort of a mishap on Jackson's part.

Jackson easily won the two reps he had against Montel McBride.

Becuase of trying to see other athletes and working on other interviews I wasn't able to see much of Springdale Har-Ber DT Josh Frazier and DE Solomon Thomas of Coppell, Texas.

In other recruiting news from the Opening,

S Jamal Adams of Carrolton, Texas, Hebron said there's a chance he visits Arkansas. It appears to be an outside shot at the most.

LB Nyles Morgan of Crete, Illinois, Crete Monee said he's considering a visit to Arkansas.

RB Joe Mixon of Oakley, Ca. Freedom said he's no longer considering Arkansas.

WR Corey Holmes of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. St Thomas Aquinas said he's no longer considering Arkansas.

In other news, CB Raymond Wingo of St Louis University High School scored a 26 on his ACT a few weeks ago. He visited Arkansas on Monday.
