Hog recruits at SW Elite 7-on-7

Tight end DeAndre Goolsby, who's a major recruiting target of Arkansas, visited the Razorbacks on Thursday before taking part in the Southwest Elite Showcase.

— Three Arkansas commitments and one prospect the Hogs hope to add to the pledge list participated in today's Southwest Elite Showcase 7-on-7 at Shiloh Christian. The tournament started on Friday.

Quarterback Rafe Peavey, 6-2, 208 of Bolivar, Mo. showed his skills when able at the event. Bolivar is a run first team and open receivers to throw to were rare for Peavey. When able to find an open receiver he was usually on the money including one long pass into the end zone that went through the hands of the receiver.

Peavey was seen talking to highly regarded tight end DeAndre Goolsby, 6-5, 232 of Derby, Kansas for a a few minutes after both had completed their morning games.

Goolsby along with his parents and sister visited Arkansas on Thursday. His father Brian played at Kansas State while Arkansas' receivers coach Michael Smith was on the Wildcats' staff.

Both father and son call Smith by his nickname of Smitty and obviously hold him in high regard.

He had a good visit and was able to check out the new football complex. Not one to tip his hand, Goolsby plans to narrow his list of 16 offers at some point. The visit was his second to Fayetteville.

His athletic ability is easy to see while running routes. He also shows good hands.

Goolsby's upside is very high with his frame currently carrying 232 pounds with plenty of room to add weight. Wouldn't be surprised to see him at 260-270 in college.

Hog pledge and Bentonville tight end Jack Kraus said he's weighing 245. He was about 235 last fall. He hasn't seen too many balls thrown his way the last two years but that number might go up this season because of the mismatch possibilities.

He's a well above average blocker because of the Tiger's offense being heavy on the run. Very physical at the line of scrimmage. Kraus plans to visit Arkansas next weekend when the Hogs are expected to host numerous top recruits. He's also someone that should be in the 260 range at the next level.

2015 quarterback Razorback commitment Ty Storey, 6-3, 217 of Charleston looked very sharp against Bixby, Okla. and put balls right on the money despite having a sore arm. He hits seams where there's very little margin for error and the ball in usually right in the hands of the receiver.

He's showing no signs of limping from his ACL surgery late last year and appears to well on his way to being completely healed. His limp was noticeable at the Dallas Nike Elite 11 in April but has made tremendous strides in his rehab.

Storey had a big smile on his face when talking about the commitment of offensive lineman Zach Rogers. He said he felt good about it happening. Rogers was one of Storey's targets when he committed to the Hogs on June 25.
