Hogs' camp unique to Pollock

Sophomore LB Jonathan Pollock had a different camp experience at Arkansas.

— Arkansas’ Elite Prospect Camp on Saturday was a different experience for highly regarded sophomore linebacker Jonathan Pollock.

Pollock, 6-0, 205 4.6 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Orlando, (Fla.) Dr. Philips has scholarship offers from Mississippi State, North Carolina, Memphis and Akron. He’s a Bulldog pledge. He said pervious camps he’s attended was five to six hours of drills.

“It was we did drills and taught us during drills on what mistakes we made and perfected them,” said Pollock of Arkansas.

He said linebacker Coach Randy Shannon used unique drills and then broke down the good and the bad.

“We went to lunch and you got to watch yourself on video with Coach Shannon breaking down the camp and what you did right and what you did wrong.,” Pollock said. “You could actually see yourself. That was more important than just been banging through drills for five hours.”

Having scholarship offers from BCS programs for a freshman is rare.

“I feel very honored,” Pollock said. “I never really expected any of this .I kind of come out everyday and give it my all and the results show.”

Pollock does have an Arkansas connection because his father, Alan is good friends with former Hog and current PGA golfer John Daly. His father produced Daly’s show that appeared on the Golf Channel.

Last year, Pollock had about 30 tackles while on the varsity level while running second team and playing every special team but punt return. He was given a tour of the facilities by graduate assistant Terrance Butler.

“The facilities were outstanding,” Pollock said. “I got a tour with Coach Butler through the new locker room and weight room. A gorgeous indoor and outdoor field with grass and turf. It’s a beautiful place.”

Pollock has good number in the weight room with a 310 pound bench press and 435 squat. He was able to talk to Coach Bret Bielema.

“Straight shooter, good guy,” Pollock said. “Tells you like it is and seems like a fun coach to play for.”
