Teammate and cousin talking up Hogs to Hendrix

Payton Hendrix is interested in Arkansas.

— Arkansas has one commitment from Dallas Bishop Dunne High School in offensive lineman Jovan Pruitt and are looking to add a second in the future.

Safety Payton Hendrix, 6-3, 194 pounds made his second visit to Fayetteville on Friday and was accompanied by Pruitt, who pledged to the Hogs on Friday. The highly sought defensive back has 20 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Nebraska, Washington, North Carolina and Arizona State.

"I really like the coaches,” said Hendrix, whose cousin, forward Keaton MIles recently transferred to Arkansas from West Virginia. "Arkansas is in the SEC and that’s a big-time program. I have family that’s here and a teammate that will be here in the future. It’s not too far away from home but it is far away from home. I just like a lot of things about Arkansas

Hendrix, who’s rated a 3-star recruit and the No. 25 safety in the nation by ESPN, said Arkansas is probably in his top five and has plans to announce the remaining schools five before the end of the month. He said Miles is hoping he joins him in Fayetteville.

"He tells me he really likes it and it’s a grrat place and things like that," he said."He told me to pick the best choice for me. He’s been telling me a lot about Arkansas so I have two people trying to keep me interested.”

Being able to be coached by defensive coordinator Chris Ash at Arkansas' Elite Prospect Camp gave him insight on Ash's coaching style.

"He’s very detailed when it comes to hands, hips, feet, turning your head," Hendrix said. "I really saw the detailed side of him and I really liked that.”

Hendrix isn't giving a hint on when he'll make his decision.

"I have to weigh my options and when I feel like the time is right," he said. "I’ll just make my decision."
